WindowBlinds skin
We have a new Master WindowBlinds skin from Z71 called Light Mark. This is one of my favorites so far, and this thing is hot! A sleek dark style with beautiful color accents, along with a couple of wallpapers to match. This is one you don’t want to miss.
If you are a WinCustomize Subscriber you will get 20% off this Master Skin, and any other in the galleries.
It’s that time of the month where the WinCustomize moderators get together and provide their picks for their favorite skin from the previous month. These are the people who see just about all the skins coming into WinCustomize, and it’s always enjoyable to see what they picked.
Here we go!
You might not have noticed, but here on WinCustomize we have a variety of galleries, one of which is for screensavers. Screensavers don’t get as much attention anymore since CRT monitors are no longer the norm, but doesn’t mean you can’t display a cool looking screensaver on your desktop during your coffee break. The screensavers on WinCustomize are tested, so you don’t have to worry about ad-ware being installed or used. Take a browse over to the gallery and see what we have. Here are a few of my favorites.
Impulse Phase 3 includes five major new features that developer Stardock believes will be compelling to both PC users and software publishers. These new features are:
- The Impulse client has had its user interface significantly improved and updated with features such as player rankings, achievements, intelligent match-making, and more. It also includes a new tray application that lets users track friends, receive update notifications, and much more.
- The beta of Impulse Anywhere, a new web-based method for users whose home Internet connections are non-ideal to download their software on another machine, take the files home and install them.
- The release of Impulse Reactor, a development platform that lets users add many new features to their games without having to re-distribute a third-party client (i.e. users don’t have to distribute the Impulse client). Impulse Reactor includes features such as intelligent match-making, multiplayer tournament support, NAT negotiation, friend lists, rankings, community features and much more. Gas Powered Games’ much anticipated PC game, Demigod, is being released next week and makes full use of Impulse Reactor.
- Impulse Reactor Overlay, an in-game overlay that lets users instantly access chat, friends lists, profile data, micro-expansions, and more. Demigod will also be the first title to make full use of this.
- Game Object Obfuscation (Goo) - An alternative method for developers to protect their intellectual property. Goo allows developers to associate licenses with people rather than their PCs which will eliminate the issue of “limited activations”. It also provides the underpinnings to support vendor neutral software downloads and transferring of licenses.

Help support a great cause
I’m happy to post about a new Master skin Icon Pack from artist, skinner, and all around great guy Paul Boyer aka mormegil. However, this is much more than an icon set as this is also a fundraiser to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which Paul and his wife are part of the “Team in Training” program.
Stardock has joined the effort by donating all profits from this Master Skin sales to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help save lives. Paul has also posted a blog about this effort, so please visit it and learn more about what they are doing for a great cause.
Now this has to be the biggest Icon Pack ever created.
“In the Marathon Icon suite I tried to capture the scope of running a marathon by creating a uniquely colored IconPackage for each mile of the Marathon - 26 IconPacks for 26.2 miles. The result is an amazing variety and over 1200 icons that will complement any desktop. To top this all off I included three additional IconPacks, themed for the “Team in Training” so you can show your support to the world, making a total of 29 IconPackages. This, to my knowledge, the largest Icon suite ever. “
Show some team spirit
If you are a sports fan you might just be following the NCAA championships going on. Tonight we have Michigan State and North Carolina going head to head for the championship going on in Detroit!
No matter which side you are on, you can show some team spirit with an officially licensed collegiate MyColors desktop showing off your favorite team.
Go Monday! I mean go, real fast, get over with. Well anyways, if you were out all weekend doing that “outdoors” thing they call it, you probably didn’t see the cool skins that came in to WinCustomize. I’m not sure what’s so exciting about this “outside” thing, but I will give you a quick re-cap of some featured skins from the weekend.
Check’em out!
The best DesktopX article on the internet is back with the March edition, and this is an even extra special one. In this issue, sViz gives some featured picks on DesktopX skins from last month. It doesn’t stop there, as she also gives some DesktopX tips and tricks.
What makes this edition extra special is an interview with Murex about DesktopX and skinning in general. Don’t miss it!
If not, come take a look
As many of you might already know, the WinCustomize 2009 site update is coming soon. We have dropping some hints and previews here and there, and everyone involved is hard at work to get the site ready for its launch.
The other day, Frogboy posted another preview along with a full-size screenshot for your viewing enjoyment.
In case you missed it, check it out now.
